High School Summer Baseball
15U+ Summer Baseball Overview
FBA offers summer baseball opportunities for all high school players who want to continue playing baseball over the summer. Legion teams are formed by the Farmington High School baseball coaches, while Big Cats is a community/recreational league open to players who did not make a high school baseball team.
Refund Policy: Refunds will only be issued if a player does not make a 2027 Farmington High School baseball team and does not wish to participate in Big Cats.
Summer Baseball Levels
- 15AA: Generally consists of players who played on a 9th Grade high school team.
- Junior Legion: Generally consists of players who played 9A or Sophomore/B-Squad.
- Senior Legion: Generally consists of players who played JV or Varsity.
- Big Cats - Ponies: 8th-9th grade community league.
- Big Cats - Seniors: 10th-12th grade community league.
Ages
Open to players in 9th-12th grade, ages 15-18 years.
When
15AA and Junior Legion seasons begin the week of Memorial Day. Senior Legion begins after the high school state tournament concludes. Legion teams play through the end of July, including sub-state and state tournament play.
Big Cats play from mid-May through mid-July.
Where
15AA & Legion teams play throughout the Twin Cities metro area and potentially outstate locations at various fields and tournaments.
Big Cats competes in the South Valley Baseball League, with games primarily played throughout the south metro area.
Practices
15AA & Legion coaches will inform players of any practices throughout the season.
Big Cats practice on Wednesdays.
Games
15AA & Legion teams play throughout the week, including weekend tournaments.
Big Cats games are played on Sundays.
Uniforms
15AA & Legion players may be required to purchase up to three jerseys, along with a Legion hat. White baseball pants with a black piping are required.
Big Cats players will need to purchase one jersey and a hat. Players may choose their own baseball pants.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If my player is cut from the Farmington high school baseball team, will I get a refund?
A: Yes, players registering for 15AA/Legion baseball that do not make a high school baseball team will be refunded and are encouraged to play Big Cats instead.
Q: If my son is on a club team, are they also able to play Legion baseball?
A: No, players may not double roster between club and Legion.
2027 Legion Season
Registration for 15AA/Legion Baseball for the 2027 season is open!
Cost & Payment
- Registration: $650 per player, plus uniform costs. The registration fee includes all league games and local tournaments.
- In 2027, the 16-17U Legion teams will travel to either South Dakota or Omaha for an out-of-town tournament. This trip is expected to add approximately $500 to the season cost, bringing the total to approximately $1,150.
- Housing/hotel costs for out-of-town tournaments are the responsibility of the family.
- Uniforms are expected to cost approximately $130–$150, including a hat. Players are responsible for providing their own white baseball pants with black piping. All 15AA & Legion teams will wear the same uniform. Teams will continue to wear the Red, White, and Grey Legion uniforms from last year.
- Online payments only. A $325 deposit is due at checkout, with the remaining balance due in mid-January.
Refund Policy
Refunds will only be issued if a player is not placed on a Farmington High School baseball team. Team placement is determined by Coach Graff and his staff. Refunds will not be granted to players who are assigned to a team but choose not to participate.
Season & Schedule
Teams will play approximately 12–15 weekday league games against teams throughout the Twin Cities metro area, beginning after Memorial Day for 16U/17U players not on the FHS Section roster. Teams will also participate in three to four weekend tournaments, which may include one or two out-of-town tournaments.
Team Placement
9th Grade: Players placed on a 9th Grade high school team will play 15AA or Junior Legion.
10th Grade: Players placed on a 10th Grade high school team will play Junior Legion.
11th–12th Grade: Players placed on JV or Varsity are eligible to play on one of the Senior Legion teams.
Players who do not make a 9th Grade high school team or higher may participate in Big Cats or Legion Tier 1A White.
Coach Graff, Coach Parsons, and Coach Conrad reserve the right to move players between teams as needed.
Roster Requirements
Players may not double roster between a club team and Legion.
