Community Baseball Overview
Farmington Baseball Association (FBA) is committed to providing a fun, positive, and developmental baseball experience for players of all skill levels.
Our Kindergarten through 2nd Grade program is entirely in-house, with all teams made up of Farmington players. Beginning in 3rd Grade, FBA partners with neighboring communities and participates in the MBL Community League, giving players the opportunity to compete while continuing to develop their skills in a community-focused environment.
Player Eligibility
Players are eligible to participate in FBA Community Baseball if they:
- Reside within the Farmington School District 192 attendance area, or
- Live within the City of Farmington.
Ages
Players are placed based on their grade level for the current school year. To participate in the Kindergarten League, players must be at least 5 years old or enrolled in kindergarten. FBA offers programs for every grade level through high school, with the Big Cats program available for players in grades 9–12.
When
The season for Kindergarten through 8th Grade typically begins in mid-to-late April, weather and field conditions permitting.
The Big Cats season begins in early May.
League schedules will be posted once the number of teams in each division has been finalized, which is typically in mid-April.
Where
Kindergarten–2nd Grade
Practices and games are held at local fields in Farmington.
3rd–8th Grade
Practices are held in Farmington, while games take place in Farmington, Lakeville, Northfield, and other surrounding communities.
Big Cats (9th–12th Grade)
The Big Cats program competes in the South Valley Baseball League, with games primarily played throughout the south metro area.
Equipment Needed
Each player will receive an FBA jersey and hat as part of their registration.
Players are responsible for providing their own baseball pants, glove, helmet, and cleats. Molded cleats are required for Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Metal cleats are permitted beginning with the Big Cats program; however, many associations do not allow metal cleats on pitching mounds, so players should be prepared accordingly.
While team bats are available, we recommend that players use their own bat whenever possible. FBA also strongly recommends that all players wear a hard protective athletic cup.

Volunteer Requirement
Families with players in 1st Grade through 8th Grade are required to fulfill the FBA volunteer commitment. A $500 volunteer deposit will be collected per family and refunded upon completion of the volunteer requirement. Families are required to complete four volunteer hours per player, with a maximum of six hours per family.
REMINDER: A player will not receive their hat and jersey until a volunteer check is collected (does not apply to coaches).
